CMMI Designation Confirms DKW's Excellent Work!

Washington DC, July 7, 2009
-- DKW’s Netcentric Solutions Division has been assessed as operating at SEI Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI®) Level 2, an important industry designation that confirms our adherence to effective software project management processes.

At Maturity Level 2, an organization shows that it has established a project management infrastructure that enables routine use of streamlined, standard solutions for requirements management, project planning, project monitoring and control, measurement and analysis, quality assurance, configuration management; and requirements management.

DKW’s Netcentric Solutions practice was the focus of the assessment. Specifically, our Secure Messaging Systems software engineering projects were the subject of the appraisal. Doug Johnson and Beverly Greene led the effort, with significant contributions from Mark Wallace, Kevin Gross, and JP Guichard.

"Quality is important to our company, and to our customers.” Therefore the goals for the CMMI assessment were to ensure that the software engineering services delivered to our customers exceed expectations," said Dave Kodner, Vice President of Business Development. "DKW makes it part of our standard operating procedures to follow best practices and the tenets of quality service."

The appraisal followed the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) v1.2 method and is based on CMMI-DEV v1.2 for Maturity Level 2. Lead Appraiser, Dan Blazer, of SAIC, performed the appraisal. Preparation for the appraisal began in November 2007, with milestones met throughout the process leading to the on-site appraisal in June 2009.

CMMI is designated by Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute (SEI), a federally funded research and development center. DKW also holds Lean Six Sigma and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) certifications. DKW's Project Managers are eligible to be PMP certified as designated by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

This is a tremendous accomplishment for the individuals involved and for DKW as a whole. Only a handful of companies our size have attained CMMI Level 2. Congratulations to everyone involved!
